LG gas dryer tumbling but blowing cold air — Emerson, NJ
The dryer ran perfectly and dried nothing. On a gas machine that narrows the search down fast — and what we found around the burner told the longer story.

The call
The customer's complaint was the clean kind: the dryer runs, the drum turns, air comes out — and the clothes come out damp after two cycles. Nothing rattles, nothing smells, nothing looks wrong.
A machine that does everything except the one thing it exists for is usually a cheaper repair than one making a horrible noise. This was.
What we found
A gas dryer makes heat in a short, strict sequence. The igniter glows until it is hot enough, a sensor confirms that heat, only then does the gas valve open, and the flame lights. Miss any step and the machine carries on tumbling and blowing room-temperature air, because everything else about it still works. That is exactly what the customer was describing.
The igniter had failed. It no longer reached the temperature the sequence requires, so the valve never got its permission to open and the burner never lit.
The second finding is the one worth photographing. The burner housing, the gas valve and every surface around them were packed with felted lint — years of it. That is not normal wear, it is a symptom: when the vent duct behind the machine is restricted, the dryer cannot push lint out of the house, so it settles inside the cabinet instead. Lint in that quantity sitting against a gas burner is the reason dryers start fires, and it is worth taking seriously even when the machine is running fine.
The fix
Replaced the igniter with the correct part for the model and cleared the lint out of the cabinet while it was open — around the burner, the housing and the drum seal.
Then we lit it and watched. The igniter glowed, the valve opened, the flame came up clean and blue and stayed lit through a full heat cycle. A dryer is honest that way: either there is a flame in there or there isn't, and you can see it from the floor.
One thing we flagged for the customer rather than fixed: the vent duct. We repair appliances, we do not clean or reroute ducting — but lint like that inside a machine means the run behind it needs looking at by someone who does. Replacing the igniter and leaving the cause in place would just book the next visit.
